Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Is nobody safe??

We lost two coworkers today. One has been here for over a decade, and the other just joined this year. They have nothing in common - different tenure with Optum, different levels of experience, different pay. One is a known high performer, and we barely know the other. I cannot tell what criteria are being used for these cuts.

It's really sad the way they so easily dispose of tenured and dedicated employees. Had 20 years in and they just came in to say sign off effectively immediately. Much of their hiring is going off shore which is a big reason why so many health providers are canceling UHC and no longer accepting them as 'in network' coverage. Optum needs to do better for their employees AND their customers!

There needs to be a spread of male/female, ethnicity, years of service, etc so it cannot be said that a certain group was targeted. So what they need for the spread is who is cut.

Basically if your work can be done offshore then it will be regardless of tenure or performance.
