Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Be Empowered

In an effort to bring a little light to this dark corner of the internet, I want to remind everyone here that you matter and you are your best advocate. Empower yourself and ask, is checking this site often in my best interest? Does it make me better or does it put a dark cloud over me? Am I being helpless? You are not in control of whether you get laid off but you are in control of you.
If you like your job, stay and know that layoffs happen and try to plan for emergencies by saving 3-6 months living expenses. This will lessen the blow financially.
If you are not happy, then do some soul searching and figure out your next move. I have checked this site way too much, obsessing over the next layoff and whether it could be me up next. It impacts my mental health and I can see it does yours too. So remember, you are in control of you. You can do great things and what the company decides about your position does not reflect on you as a person. You can live in fear and stress or you can choose what makes you free whether that is improving your savings account for emergencies, staying at the company and continuing with the great work you do or moving to a new company that inspires you to be your best, or maybe even starting your own company. Be empowered not belittled.

I check it cause it’s entertaining. How I really waste my time is watching how many on a team of about 25 employees send hearts emoji’s every time the manager post something on a chat. Then realize it’s the same 5 people. Where are the other 20. Probably checking to see when the next layoff is and praying it is them. I pray everyday it happens soon.

I’m here to remind you that, if real, the number 1 leisure activity joyed by the creator of the heavens and the earth is the taking and pillaging of the büttholes of human souls. Violently. Relentlessly. It’s why we were created.

Oh, and have a happy Monday!

Yes, a healthy balance is key. I only check this site every so often to see if there are any big ones on the horizon. Otherwise, it is more productive to do interview prep and job applications. That’s how you really beat them and you have the power to do it even in this tough market. I’m trying as well.
