USA Investment Plans Real or Not?

Saw this on Seeking Alpha. Pasted text here for those who do not have a subscription. “ IBM (NYSE:IBM) plans to invest $150B in the U.S. over the next five years to accelerate technology opportunity.

The U.S. tech giant said the amount includes an investment of over $30B in research and development to advance and continue IBM's American manufacturing of mainframe and quantum computers.

"We have been focused on American jobs and manufacturing since our founding 114 years ago, and with this investment and manufacturing commitment we are ensuring that IBM remains the epicenter of the world's most advanced computing and AI capabilities," said IBM's Chairman, President and CEO Arvind Krishna.

IBM noted that it operates the world's largest fleet of quantum computer systems, and will continue to design, build and assemble quantum computers in America.”

Fake news to cover up IBM losses to the tune of $150 Billion in the future....Krabanaugh needs reasons to provide to investors when he's just cooking the books.

No real US jobs will be created, just a load of fake ones as was done under DEI@IBM.

No mention of POWER. Or Cloud. Or Storage. IBM has been aligned with the radical Dems for over 100 years going back to when Thomas J Watson Sr was very closely to FDR and they would have dinner in the Poughkeepsie - Hyde Park NY area. Thomas J Watson J was US Ambassador to Russia under Carter just before they invaded Afghanistan. This is just pandering and politics to appear in support of US/Trump but we all know the truth that Arvind how has well over 50% of IBM in India. Apple did the same with $500B as did Nvidia $500B. Once Trump is out the whole house of cards falls apart. SMH.

If you look at their Balance Sheet ($15B Cash balance) and their Free Cash Flow ($11B annually) they simply will not even have anywhere near $150B over the next 5 years to invest anywhere. Of course, what they mean is they will SPEND that much, mainly on salaries, which they are currently spending anyways. Even that number looks like a stretch when you look at total OpEx, so maybe they're including Dividends paid too.

The Mainframe/Quantum part is already developed and built in the USA. These are funds that were already planned to be spent. So nothing new there.

The rest of the $120b is not specified. So not sure what that entails, but I expect it is projects that were already planned.

On the statement of focused on American jobs. I snorted coffee out of my nose when I read that line. So why the heck did IBM fire all those American employees and replace them with Indians if it is focused on American Jobs?

In short I believe this is all about getting some of the Government contracts back.
