Thread regarding Caterpillar Inc. layoffs

Work-Life Balance

I would like to know how CATERPILLAR is in terms of work life balance. Is any telecommuting allowed or is it 5 day RTO?

@hnf Not so much laying off as forcing resignations, but yeah, same difference.

It’s been almost six months, but I finally have not one but two fully remote jobs lined-up. I’ll be staying with CAT long enough to qualify for my STIP then I’m out.

I’ve been threatened with a PIP over RTO. I’m not concerned because it’ll take them a long time to replace me and it’s easy to find a job in my field.

If I’m hired remote I’m staying remote.

5 day mandatory RTO. They are to the point of laying off employees who have been remote work for years that have signed remote work agreements.

@km new CEO and VP of each Division are all about 5 day attendance for lower level employees, while Directors and lower VP spend a lot of time traveling and visiting other sites to spend their time.

WLB very team-dependent. 5-day RTO mandate was released a few weeks back but it’s still hand-wavy depending on division, group, and again, your team.

The email stated 5-days RTO.

That being said I've heard grumblings amongst my divisions leaders all the way up to President level, because quite frankly we do not have the desk or office or parking lot space to force everyone back to the office full time.

We shall see though.. New CEO, new bullcr-p
