Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

LBT Lost the Locker Room

Since wimpy basketball analogues are the way he apparently communicates: Lip-Bu Tan lost the locker room when he blamed the employee base for Intel’s current state as the reason for RTO, instead of any attempt at articulating a consistent strategy for…the company, layoffs, the composition of his executive team.

Who wants to work for a guy who’s been around long enough to know the company’s history, but doesn’t even have the spine to point the finger across the desk at his C-suite colleagues? Tough talk is easy when you’re talking down.

He wants RTO, fine, others are doing it too. He wants to lay people off, that’s the macro environment we’re in - others are doing it too.

But instead of showing up with a strategy, he opens a blame-shifting campaign against employees for MASSIVE misses like iPhone, EUV, 5N4Y, and AI. Those were strategic errors by the executive team.

Repeatedly citing his time playing in a Singaporean rec league 50 years ago doesn’t make him more relatable, it makes him cringeworthy because you can only imagine how many times that broke record has been spun.

Another CEO, another unique and differentiated way of doing sück. Intel keeps innovating, alright.

@g8 So you point the finger down on your employees and hold them accountable for executives’ mistakes? Lip Bu implied Intel’s problems are because people weren’t coming to work 3 days a week. Which makes him a total @ssclown

It's not good leadership to debase other leaders publicly even if they deserve it. It's not good for moral. You do it one and one and then let them go.

I see a post like this with a lot of up votes and people proclaiming what a good post that hit the nail on the head. It really makes me wonder. I am someone who was a multiple decade successful employee (IC) who retired in 2021 after they rehired Pat and new that would be a disaster. Other things also aligned at the time to make retirement a great choice so my case isn't for everyone.

My question: How long are you going to languish at Intel and hope that things get better?

It is your life and you need to be in control of it. Working for a company that is clearly not what it used to be and isn't even a close second, third, or fourth from the top. When will you give up the dream of a turnaround and go find a new place to work where you will be appreciated and rewarded? Let it go, there is no glory or reward for riding Intel down to the bottom.

A little secret for ya. Corporate elite only talk about sports to ingratiate themselves with the “Working Class”.

P.S. you should hear what they say and think about you when you’re not around.

Did not see anything to improve the company. Layoff and re-org will cause years to adjust and stabilize. The frequent layoff hurt the company. Intel does not seem to have time to stabilize, train the new managers before the bankruptcy.

Good post. Would be Laugh out loud funny if not for the life boats we find ourselves floating in. Or are we still on the deck of the titanic?
