Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Are any office closures likely with the Skydance takeover?

I know there's no real way to know how, what, when, or even IF the takeover will occur at this point, but I'm just curious if anyone has heard anything about any office closures planned by Skydance.

I'm assuming their primary focus is to invest in the Paramount Studio and CBS (and not so much the cable brands) so I can imagine most of the Paramount Lot will stay, but I can't help but wonder about Gower Street, 1515, and some of the smaller offices in other cities.

I have read that Ellison Sr. plans to build a new Oracle headquarters in Nashville. Of course he may not incorporate David's Skydance/Paramount venture into that building or even Nashville. I'm pretty sure California and Spain is where the current Skydance offices are.

1515 Broadway will most certainly close whether or not the casino gets approved. CBS Mornings already getting booted back to the rat-filled BC with G-yle&co. miffed at the downgrade.

Long term they will also sell the NY broadcast center as the facility is a dump and has hugely underused air rights for development. Either a decade long lease-back or selling a minority stake of the BC are on the table near-term.

Eventually, I believe the Ed Sullivan will be the only NYC real estate gem that the Ellison's choose to hold on ownership to.

Don't forget that there is still an effort underway to turn 1515 Broadway into a hotel/casino. If that gets approved, I would guess that Paramount would get a tidy buyout of whatever remains on their long term lease and give them the perfect opportunity to essentially shut down non-CBS NYC operations and concentrate things closer to the Ellisons.

I'm in PW's division, and we were recently informed Wednesdays in office are now mandatory, as well as a mandatory minimum of 2 days in office with Wednesdays being one of them.

I heard the CBS Interactive building in Burbank will eventually be shut down since most of the Streaming Tech employees are remote.

Hopefully 60 Minutes & CBS News in general will shut down because they're bringing the entire company down with lawsuits larger than the value of the company. Pompous pinheads

Low cost city? I guess that rules out the 1515 office and others in NY?

Heard similar talk about consolidating in a low cost city. How many of those are left that are relevant to the business?

That is true and the majority of full time are in Spain and then second most is Santa Monica

But, are not most of the 1200 in Skydance, freelance and temporary? I heard they only have a few hundred full time employees.

Supposedly Skydance wants to "save" 2 Billion, somehow..

I had to say goodbye to several friends over the so called 500 Million in "savings" last year.

Could have just as easily been myself or anyone else in a huge arbitrary dice roll like that.

Not sure about whole office closures though.

Skydance is 1200 people and 600 are in Spain. They do not bring the amount of people that would drive office closures. They could to save money and word is they want to consolidate the workforce in some low cost city in America.
