Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

An all too familiar recipe.

Oh you already know how its going to play out. They’ll trim down tech, then mandate “absolutely no outages…..do more with less….be creative…..” and then they’ll shorten deadlines, while summing it all up with “don’t forget ‘work life balance is important’.

Outages will ensure due to overworked over stressed people making mistakes or taking short cuts. They will start study groups to figure out ‘what the problem is’. They’ll conclude they need more people. A press release will be given on “We are growing and have a need to hire more tech people” . They’ll hire more people but all in the wrong areas. Then they’ll tell those people they need to transition to other teams ‘who wants to volunteer’. Whoever they choose, they’ll require them to move to another location or be managed out. blah…blah…blah….etc….spin control here and there…yada…yada…

You’ve seen this all before, we all have.

There’s always talk of next level this, new tech that, new fresh thinking employees etc… all of it is a moot point until you decide to replace old antiquated ways of both management and thinking. You can have all the new tech and fresh young minds you want, so long as they are throttled back due to old management ways of thinking, it’ll do no good.
