Intel can survive without most of HR, actually. How many of them are there? Let's start there.
People are leaving Intel on their own. The Q1 earnings report pdf page 6 shows that Intel had 99.5k employees on 12/28/24 but as of 3/29/25 it was down to 97.6k. Letting another 20% go with the next round of layoffs will take the company to around 78k.
