Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

After all the previous cuts, will SMG get clobbered again?

In the last couple rounds of layoff, SMG took some pretty big hits and dropped >30% of the team. Rumor has it that other areas are the latest target (middle management, NEX, etc) but still wondering if SMG has truly been 'optimized' or if we'll take another big hit.

And the lack of severance would feel like a penalty for sticking around and trying to help Intel recover. Leadership lobbied hard, asking us to stay and now we might get tossed out without any severance... thanks Intel.

Remember when a couple of decades ago, SMG didn't exist at all. Maybe we will be there again

Orgs like Finance, IT, HR and SMG lost 50% of their workforce since 2022. There isn't much left to cut there.

Smg wont get cut much. LBT values the relationships they have and they are also aligned with industry benchmarks for employee count. I do think that LBT will bring in another replacement for head of sales.

Lol! Who needs a sales team when you make non-competitive products?

LOL... unless SMG is engineering new products, they should expect to be cut 30%-35% for Intel to average a 20% HC reduction. We can assume engineering isn't going to get cut 20%... so other BUs will have to make up the difference. With dwindling sales... does Intel really need that many "sales" people?

SMG has the German Captain. He who can steal millions of dollars and force thousands onto his commandeered cruise liner. Na-i Noveau. He should paint himself orange, make up a birth certificate, and run for president! He’s clearly qualified based on performance.

SMG is not really doing much sales, they mostly exist to manage the distributor pipeline.

Seems a ripe target for automation, so not a great career choice anywhere but especially at a company that no longer has much to distribute.

Not a mystery that the SMG heyday was when Intel dominated PCs and servers.

stick a fork in it

Intel is like “a blind crossing the river”. The leaders are blind who do not know where to go, the employees are following blindly.
