Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

It’s all about the money

Most of the people getting laid off are the ones that are making the most money. It has nothing to do with under performing. This is why the company is doing so poorly. They’re sending jobs over overseas. They do not care about the insured. It’s never been about the insured. It’s been about the money. Insurance companies do not care about the people they ensure they only care about the money.

It's just another knee je-k reaction.. Company leaping before they look.. When this new model fails, we will all go down for it.. Not good..

Responding to the comment that management knew PRC would take over PEX. Fat chance that'd be successful. Our groups want the face and a path to escalation. It's clear upper Senior management have no idea what we truly did nor are they provider relations savvy.

From what I know.PEX is left with about 85 people taking call center calls and assigned about 15-20 Core groups and that they are unfamiliar with, nevermind the fact they are sadly going to take the hit having to start from scratch as all issues/work are gone. 'They' weren't smart enough to create a SharePoint for all the trackers, they just wanted contact names and numbers, Which is pure insanity. You'd think after the last townhall when they went for co-ktails someone would've suggested that

Whoever created this mess will be the fall guy in about a year and be fired. Mark my word

Actually when they offered the VRSP back in February that was the 60 day notice. If they didn't get enough takers there would be lay offs and that is what happened. At least by not taking it you can apply for unemployment.

I don’t think your assessment is accurate. I probably made less than anyone on my team and had the broadest skillset and I was laid off. I believe it’s age related. They also didn’t give 60 days notice which is required when laying off 50+ people. Report your layoff to the state. All people deserve the 60 days pay and notice required by law.

It's been the strategic plan since February of 2024 that PEx was moving to the PRC. Leadership knew all along. Many planned their retirement and way out.

That’s why I took the VRSP. I knew layoffs were going to happen. Common knowledge as well as there was no talking points or anything for the PEX team to share with their Core or Strategic accounts. UHC is in for a rude awakening. PEX was the face the providers trusted and could rely on. That’s all gone. Salary had nothing to do with the layoffs. The big wig only made $16.5million this year compared to last year, made all that money by defrauding our Medicare population for the most part. AW MB KR are heartless full face liars, they knew from day one back in November the goal was to get rid they of PEX, plus many more. Have fun watching our American jobs go to India!

We made decent money, approx $60k to $150k depending on grade level, location and experience. But definitely not the “most” money. There is no way the 300 of us who got selected was due to performance. I got selected and get exceeds expectations on yearly reviews. Same with others on my team. We have been Advocates for 10+ years and at the company for 20+ years with a ton of experience. This was a tough but rewarding position and loved what we did and really cared about the work and helping providers. We built relationships with providers who trusted us and relied on our help. The provider were thankful for us and praised us often. If it was due to performance they would have had a very tough time selecting. Most of the managers and directors were laid off as well. It definitely has to do with money and having an end goal. If you take the lower end of pay $80k x 300 that’s a $24m cut. The Advocate team as a whole works so hard and now only 80 left to pick up the pieces. Not even sure if they are keeping the Advocate position or if the ones left will be doing something different. We were the ones keeping providers happy. UHC made a huge mistake.

PEX were not the ones making the big bucks but letting us all go including our managers and directors is saving them money and there was a lot of great people let go yesterday. It's a mix of sadness along with some relief. It was getting hard there as they had been trying to get us to quit for a while. They threw us into the call ctr with minimal training and we still had our regular jobs to do on top of it. It was cruel. There were times I worked til 8 PM just to respond to my providers and keep their asks flowing. I am still in shock UHC has been a big part of my life for a long time and now myself and others need to figure out next steps. Good luck to all.

I sincerely DOUBT all the folks in PEX were the ones making the big bucks. I don't get your 'logic' here.

I hope you were one to get laid off. This is illogical.
