Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Walk Out

I call for a walk out. Enough is a fking enough. They think we are push overs. 15% cuts, pay cuts for a year, 20% cuts, superficial ETL changes like we’re stupid, over priced fruit, bad serpentine management. 1 hour walk out during all hands! We are the embarrassment of the tech industry and the powers that be keep passing us around from CEO to CEO like a cheap bottle of liq-or. I call for a walk out.

Yes, please walk out so I can get that referral bonus for your replacement. Of I like your position I'll also apply for it.

Intel may not survive for another year, if every quarter it uses layoff to cover the bad earnings.

The new CEO does not mention how to improve fab manufacturing. His so-called new direction maybe more for product design to be out-sourced to TSMC. There is no mention how to improve IFS. It is the same medicine in a different bowl, not much help to Intel.

@a5... really, you have been sitting there waiting for someone to save you? They aren't worried about you doing anything because you haven't done anything so far and they are confident you won't in the future either. If you do survive this round of layoffs get ready for some real changes. Performance based management is coming back fast and hard. It is happening across the industry. Workloads will increase and you will be monitored. The bottom 5-10% will be removed every year and it will happen continuously instead of just once a year. Your paid vacation is over.

Go ahead, walk out. Make it easy for them to fire you for cause. No severance, no cobra, no unemployment.

Maybe it's changed but when I worked in intel circa early 2010s, the techs did 30 mins work and 11hrs 30 mins watching online movies .

I agree, we should probably stop waiting for some savior CEO to walk in and save us all. We need to say “hey fix the ship or we the workers will find someone who will”. Let’s see if they wanna risk a strike on Chips Act’s dollar.

From the company's view, layoff is like shedding fat for the obese. It is necessary but no guarantee to save Intel. I would bet that it is the right move now.

If they’re gonna get rid of 1/5th of us then maybe we can at least pressure for a better deal if we end up staying. Honestly, I think they have us all blaming each other by design, while the same ETL team sit up high getting yet another set of darts to throw… and they keep missing the board entirely.
