Let the Hunger Games Begin!

For those who are still at Intel... watch your back, especially if you are in a non-technical role, or in IFS. LBT wants Intel to be more technical, so that 20% cut will have to come mostly out non-technical headcount... plus he may want to shave a bunch more non-technical heads to he can hire more technical people. So don't be surprised if the non-technical roles get cut by 35% or more. Pat basically spared IFS as it was ramping up for customers that never materialized, and got bloated beyond morbidly obese... and now LBT is prob going to use TSMC staffing and productivity metrics to bring IFS costs inline with competition. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 30%-35% cut in IFS to start, and depending on orders (or lack of), additional adjustments to be added later. Don't get me wrong, non-core technical projects will likely be ZBB'd, and those heads that can work on core fundamental products will stick (PC, Server, AI), others not so much.

Whatever you do, don't fall for the old buzzword 'Fungible'. While it may feel safer to be aligned with many potential alternate positions. They may find someone fungible to replace you!

Many of the so-called technical folk are not very technical at all and have outdated and narrow skills. They won’t leave there comfort zone for the life of them. Pair ‘em with the pompous , short-tempered, loud mouth middle managers and you have the Intel soup that got us here. The diversity folk need to go too — while people do try to be tolerant of one another on the surface there is an infestation of bigotry and prejudice right beneath the surface (Ever see a former H1B turn around a sp-t hate at others while failing to update their stale skills). The diversity folks are just eating paychecks because they are helpless to stop any of it. Don’t need em.

getting rid of non-technical bloat is badly needed. A conservative estimate is we don't need 50% of non-technical "strategists", "PMs", "couches", "diversity leaders", "operations" and such. Oh, and VPs, Sr Directors go into the same bucket.
