Because of a special event I tool three weeks vacation earlier this year. If I am laid off or otherwise terminated before the end of the year - do I have to pay that back?

Also, they will not pay an employee who gets terminated with vacation time in the bank.
This depends on the location and local laws. For example, in California you must be paid for accrued but not used vacation time. In Texas, no.
