Next cut - Sales Directors

Canon is looking to cut salary and rumors out of Melville is they will look to cut sales directors in areas where sales managers can report directly to senior management.

Some areas of the country already have this process in place. Corporate knows that less office time and in field appointments, directors are sitting back and pushing the button waiting for sales numbers to grow.

As you have seen in other areas of the company, they will delegate more responsibility to sales managers. Sales managers will be tasked to run the branch. Branches with multiple managers will have one manager viewed as a “Sr. Manager” but they will not change their title.

Directors, once viewed as the driver of the ship, are now being viewed as disposable since they are often older and out of touch with the new technologies we are selling.

I have a lot of people I know in these positions and the only way I will ever share info like this is to remain anonymous.

You can only amputate some much. At the rate this company is going, they make Jeffrey Dahlmer look like a saint!

Sounds like the same approach Kodak, Xerox and HP took. Ax jobs just to make the books look good to greedy shareholders. And look at where that business model got these companies? Bottom of the barrel on the floor of the Stock market. 😂

Sales to contracts: you’re not increasing pricing!
Contracts to sales: 80% of contracts sold were set to not increase pricing.
Management: we must “find a way” to increase revenue to offset Trump tariffs immediately!

Womp, womp. Total sh*tshow. Example # 7,589,572 of daily dysfunction and ineptitude.

They have done this already in some areas and appear ready to expand those cuts to more sales directors and maybe even a few senior sales directors. "I'm digging my way to something better" seems to be the motto while the company founders with no real course or direction. Sound advice is 'When you're in a hole - stop digging' but cutting $160k - 200k in salary per director or above appears too tempting to resist while the top of the company tree balloons with pointers and chattering birds of a feather needlessly commenting and complaining about the lack of sales, progress or enthusiasm for carnage. Sad to see a once great company spiral into the abyss.

I don’t think they could cut all that experience and expect the sales managers to pick up the responsibilities.

The only thing I will agree with you on is this. They have cut internal resources thin already while leaving sales untouched. Yes, a couple people in sales were let go.

Letting go of the directors makes sense. They make higher salaries and it won’t affect the people on the street.

Should be interesting. I am sure PK and DV will figure something out for the people they like.

Cut cut cut cut cut cut cut

They can do this all day. That doesn’t do anything for growth.

Plus nobody wants to work at Canon so if they ever get to a point where they want to try and re-hire for all these eliminated roles they will really struggle.
