Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Community banks / small banks

Has anyone left Citi for a community bank? Or a smaller bank? This question likely better suited for us employees

I’m so over Citi I’m looking at smaller places. So curious on differences. Would assume limited opportunities at a smaller place. But perhaps ok for my sanity

Worked at two smaller banks. Can attest the pay was smaller and the stress level was probably equal. I just didn't work after hours or weekends. I liked them better, but the pay scale was less than desirable.

I wouldn't assume everything would be worse. My wife left for a Credit Union servicer that was based out of California 10 years ago. The closest equivalent at Citi is a tech c12 and the pay is in our C13 range. They also love remote work, shun offshoring, and charge about half of what we do for insurance benefits. Flip side is there are limited options for advancement.

Pay will be lower, benefits will be worse, and management will seem insecure and have an inflated sense of their own importance.
