Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Canon has turned me into a slacker

I was by far the highest performer on my team, and I was passed over for a promotion several times in favor of people who, to put it mildly, did not deserve it outside of being great at kissing up. The last time it happened, I flipped the switch. I’ve been doing the bare minimum and prioritizing everything else in my life, and honestly, I’ve been having the time of my life. I do not even care if I get fired. I have been preparing for that, since I suddenly have much more free time.

I have to say that I feel a lot of similarities with "Ghost Protocol." Honestly, no offense to the person who posted this, but if you consider yourself a true slacker, there's a door—no one is keeping you at Canon. It's great that you are putting in much less effort, but trust me, people notice. It might be wise for you to look for opportunities outside the company sooner rather than later. If you ever wanted to be considered for a promotion, it seems that your lack of effort has completely sabotaged that possibility. Let's not put down other people successes look in the mirror first.

@GhostProtocol: you own what you said. People have rights, and the way your company has treated employees has opened up a lot of eyes. People are watching...and cringing. The CEO has taken a chainsaw approach to the company and it's syophants like you that enable a toxic work environment. Yeah, your people have options comment reveals your true character: kick people to the curb and shrug it off. That's the definition of a sadist. If I worked in your company, and you had an attitude like that, I'd make it my personal mission to see you get canned and blackballed professionally.

To the previous post who mentioned my name... I'm tired of hearing the constant complaining. If you're not satisfied with the company, you have options. Everyone is working hard, but most people are thankful and refrain from complaining, unlike the Karens who often complain daily!

@GhostProtocol: you must get off kicking someone when they're down. You're a sadist.

The next big update from Sammy is launching the next employee ideation project (the failed Intrapreneurship contest part 2).

It is scheduled to launch this week. It’s going to be the same sh*t show as before. How do they not learn from past mistakes?! Instead they keep doubling down on the same failed projects (see: Kokomo, AMLOS, GolfCam).

Canon did not turn you into a slacker, you were always a slacker! You may have thought your work was the best, but maybe others though it was subpar. Sometimes, your vision of yourself is not the most accurate. If you want something, you keep fighting for it. Your post stated that you gave up, so don't blame Canon for your faults.

UGH. Unfortunately i can relate to this, hard. But it is quite challenging to slack off when you’ve been given more and more work and shorter deadlines !… also, with alls that is going on , what do you think will happen with the next round of promotions? And does anyone know, What’s the next big update from Sammy?!
