no, "good" people are smart people and will withhold their full effort if the compensation incentive isn't there

Smart people don't work at Cisco regardless of compensation.

Good people are self motivated and will contribute fully even when interviewing to go to the next job

no, "good" people are smart people and will withhold their full effort if the compensation incentive isn't there

the people you are describing are basically su-kers

there's a reason most large tech cos prefer young/low-tenure employees now...they need to work them hard while the naive optimism and blind work ethic are in place...after a few years reality sets in and your top performers start phoning it in unless they see a compensation incentive

but there are plenty of people who are capable of doing good work if provided with real incentives

Intel just cut more than 20% employees, Google and Meta fire people every day, even in weekend, and Microsoft ask people go without severance package, so in this situation, Cisco's LR size may be much more bigger than thousands, highly likely it will cut 17%+.

short of swapping out most of its employees there isn't much that can be done to change what it is

point taken but I disagree

a lot of people need to leave, that is true...but there are plenty of people who are capable of doing good work if provided with real incentives

Cisco won't provide incentives; it is run by bottom-line managers who do not understand taking a risk to increase the top line

Still butt hurt I guess.

I wasn't the original poster but it shouldn't be a surprise what losing hundreds of thousands of dollars over a couple of days will do to one's attitude.

As big of id--ts that the left has become...

When we had a "right" it recognized the need for responsible governance and that while the government could not and therefore should not try to solve everything there were things only the government could solve. As voters we have been denied that option for far too long.

we have no leadership...

I'm left with the impression you're talking about managerial leadership and ignoring the complete lack of technical leadership which has been a hallmark of Cisco for at least three decades. Note that Chambers ran the company for more than 2/3rds of that time where the stock was only great for a two year bubble.

It's been pointed out here repeatedly over many years that the time to turn Cisco around was when the stock was growing and Cisco could afford to acquire better talent. By the time Chuck took over the culture was permanently set and short of swapping out most of its employees there isn't much that can be done to change what it is.

It's also been asked here repeatedly over many years "what else could Chuck do" and aside of one or two misfiring neurons thinking Chuck could have made Cisco the leader in cloud almost a decade after all the big players were already established and when far better positioned giants like IBM and Oracle largely failed the answer has been NOTHING.

Since the topic is layoffs, note that Cisco was a one trick pony for so long it's just not flexible enough to take on significantly different work. If you've been doing the same thing at Cisco for 10-20 years you may be in the same boat. No matter how good your reviews are the royal you need to look in the mirror and be honest about whether you're ready to deal with being forced to change jobs and if what you do isn't in big demand how you'll build the skills to do something else.

"I hope all MAGAs and their kids get what they voted for: going back to coal mining, milling steel and living like it's 1865 all over again"
Still butt hurt I guess. As big of id--ts that the left has become, could you imagine the same lunatics acting this way back then or even 15 years ago? Of course not. I feel like a newt right now so I have to crawl. See ya.

tariffs paused for 90days right(except one country)?

Most of the tariffs made up by a moranic ChatGPT prompt monkey are on temporary hold but we're still applying a 10% tariff on everyone including the penguins.

Insane tariffs has stopped customers from buying. Not just Cisco

CR will continue to react to this as he reacts to everything - sit there with that stupid vacant look on his face and blab one excuse after another while doing NOTHING

we have no leadership...as bad as the rank and file can be, the ELT is worse, these are literally the D-listers who are only here out of desperation, and most arrived here from other D-list companies

does anyone think this company does anything other than "manage the decline"???? all we do is let the tides pull us around...even the good quarters just feel like the tides pulling us somewhere nice for once

Insane tariffs has stopped customers from buying. Not just Cisco. The US economy is going to implode due to Trump's abject stupidity. Mass layoffs are now inevitable.

Good luck to all.

I saw a post on Linked that there are a lot of re-org and consolidation going at Cisco. This is a sign of major layoffs coming.

i thought promotion protects them for 1 year from LR?

Not even close. But hey, at least their severance will be based on the higher salary though. New hires can be fired in less than a year.

At least those promoted (without due process) get to enjoy their status for few months.

Cisco must go. It has been nothing but trouble in whatever network it becomes a part of. The layoffs just show how badly change is needed.
