Need a few good and skilled people in IFS. IFS is inflated with 10x more than headcount industry, but no true skilled people to work with customers.

We know that people on this site throw out some crazy stuff…….however this is probably a lot closer to becoming reality. It is what LBT has said he thinks Intel needs. Lots of work going on behind the scenes so we can execute this layoff and restructure quickly after earnings. Horrible stuff, but it is what LBT said he wanted to do.

@fe+1 OP is just trolling but what is coming will not be voluntary.

Not even sure that would be an option.

This is about shedding products and groups that the company no longer considers core.

In the Fabs and TD, it will be about restructuring to better compete with foundries, instead of being a bespoke provider to internal product groups. That effort could go on for a year or two, but will be done with some urgency since that is where Intel is losing the most money.

TD in particular has not right-sized from the effort to catch up to TSMC on technology. Massively bloated, beyond what Foundry can afford to fund.

Other groups like Intel Labs, and all the other labs, will be cut down as product groups are either discontinued or sold to other companies.

Only a small portion what is needed is about simply going down x percent in headcount due to the slowing economy. The global economy is slowing and so there might be a bit of that too, and that could include VSP.

By all appearances this will be the toughest time to remain employed at the company since they laid off 30% in the early 1970s. Anything less than a full realignment and downsizing of the company will just be pushing out the day when the whole effort grinds to a halt.

Flattening ELT should enable LBT to rapidly determine what needs to be cut and allow no dissent to what has to be done, or his direct reports get pushed out too. This should be the end of the nonsense where ELT refused to do as they were told.

I think some of those who have already been pushed out were good examples of that, more focused on their own agenda than what was the right thing to do for the company.
