Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Canon is Way Too Bloated at All Levels

One observation I have made about Canon is that there are so many departments and job titles. For instance, what is the difference between all these VPs? Seriously, it just seems like the company makes up job titles to sooth people’s egos. Even in clerical roles you have customer service reps, then you have customer communication specialists / advocates. Like WTF is the difference? Nobody really does what their job title describes. “Analysts” do administrative secretarial work instead of, gee I don’t know, ANALYZING! You have one team that does certain tasks, but you have to go to another group for additional information because there is so much red tape and restrictions on who has access to different system responsibility features. Canon is a poorly run business! It’s hilarious how these Executives talk like they run a well-oiled machine operation. There is so much dysfunction all around. Don’t even get me started on training & professional development, they are non-existent. But the Executives will say “Oh, we have online classes!” Yeah dude, nobody wants your ghetto outsourced courses on how to add cells together in Excel or take mandatory courses on chemicals, when the job has nothing to do with working with chemicals. Are HR people that inept and lazy to assign courses in Canon Learn that are completely irrelevant?!?!
