Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Why did P66 feel the need to bring in the McKinsey Group?

Was there some event that precipitated or preceded P66 calling in the McKinsey Group?

Were 2nd quarter earnings not high enough?

And for anyone who has not read the Atlantic article on the McKinsey Group, I find it interesting that the current Secretary of Transportation , Pete Buttigieg, got his start in the corporate world with the Mckinsey Group.

The US Department of Transportation oversees pipelines.

Do your research on McKinsey. You'll find that when McKinsey is brought in to evaluate a company when they present their report jobs are lost.

That's the P66 MO. If you strung together the ROIs that every newbie chemical engineer promised (and were rated accordingly through the performance management system), P66 would be printing more money than the federal reserve. That's what we do. Promise the world, and when it doesn't come through, find someone else to blame.

Ain't corporate culture grand?

My take is that AE66 hasn’t delivered anywhere near the results that were premised, it’s way over budget and as a result, some cuts had to happen to make up for part of this huge miss. That’s not to say some reductions were originally assumed in AE66, but they were organic in nature and not via a layoff, especially while the company is currently ki----g it. Of course, there’s little to no accountability for upper management who bungled AE66, they seem to faceplant walking up the stairs and get rewarded. Oh yeah, and only one day wfh if you’re lucky, what a great culture! But we have a hip charging plug in at a gas station lol.
