Understanding Schwab’s Vendor-Based H-1B Hiring Strategy

I’ve observed that Charles Schwab appears to be engaging a significant number of H-1B professionals through third-party vendors rather than hiring directly as full-time employees. As a prospective or current FTE, I’m curious about the strategic rationale behind this approach. Could anyone provide some insight into why Schwab is opting for vendor-based H-1B talent hire versus bringing those roles in-house as direct hires? Is it primarily driven by project-based flexibility, cost structure, skill specialization, or other organizational priorities?"

If you think that's bad (STS not interviewing good people), you should see the abysmal contractor resumes we have to interview. Even with good resumes, the candidates have a problem answering questions around tech they list. As for the H1B's, honestly, they have the same resume problems.

I have referred many who are US Citizens with BS/MS degrees in Computer Science with > 3.75 GPAs from pretty good US Universities for many STS developer roles at Schwab and not one person I referred got a call for an honest interview. This looks like a Scam running at Scale at Schwab by Managers and Directors. If its a Indian Manager or Director 100% they are running a toxic team and selectively hiring people they can control I guess.

  1. Cheaper labor
  2. Easier-to-control labor
  3. Easier to downsize
  4. No threat of uppity contractors claiming they were actually Schwab employees who are owed benefits
  5. Gives racist employees someone to look down upon

One Director in AST only hires her previous acquaintances and gets kick back via referral fee. HR should investigate.

We had a talented programmer in our team he was on H1B and his contract ended a year ago schwab never hired him as a FTE though everyone in our team pushed for him to become a FTE instead we hired someone my Manager and Director knew from their previous company and this person doesn't do any work and just shuffles their work around to others on the team and now their Toxic Positivity is causing issues in production. Not all H1Bs are bad there are some good programmers who can build things. Sad that most of Schwab Management who are in power abuse it a lot.

The people are cheaper to get rid of once the project ends and Schwab doesn’t have to manage their visas. The consulting companies seem to be involved in immigration fraud as some of those workers are not any better than the talent already in this country.

This is a valid question as Schwab would rather bet on foreign talent than American citizens who are having a hard time due to the large number of layoffs currently, especially in tech.

No offense but this is not the forum to ask that to, if this is a genuine question.
Only Schwab hating individuals post on here so it’s high likelihood you will not receive an actual answer, rather met with loathing banter.

Maybe ask recruiter or if you are current employee, ask manager to inquire. It’s a valid question.
