Retirement vs Loyalty

Some who had been before I was born are being ask to retire. Loyalty is no longer applicable. I interviewed with a company and ALL of them are being valued with loyalty including the talent acquisition ironically :)

Taub said he was dissuaded from seeking one job after being told it was for "H1B only," and not invited to interview for a second job. Brander said Tesla wouldn't interview her for two jobs though she had twice been a contract employee."

This fits the current trend last round I noticed a lot of very well respected and tenured folks being let go... or receiving early retirement.... I don't expect it to be different this time.

If tenure is the primary reason for layoffs, then does the SLT have the ba--s to retire the 'Dinosaur' system VisaNet, which BTW is running successfully for over 20+ years and being the Cash Cow for all the stupid cr-p going on in the name of 'Innovation' ? Vital systems knowledge is being lost.

I witnessed several dinosaurs who were there for more than 20+, 30 + years, had a lot of connections, protectors no problem jumping from one department to another. This time around they were asked to retire. One particular person gave notice early in the year and did not leave company until after 5 months. It seems this person did not want let go...

Although not quite of retirement age, I would take a buyout offer in a heartbeat.

Visa could retain the talent who want/need to remain with Visa, and jettison the talent who will eventually quit anyway, by simply offering buyouts before the next round of layoffs.

It seems the ones who had been there more than 20 years are being asked to retire to give way for new generation, fresh minds and ideas.
