Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

My India Team su-ks

FML I have to work with these people. Not impressed at all. Why does EM hire the Indians that don’t understand tableau or power BI? They are supposed to do all the mundane work right. Instead they su-k so I work double time correcting their stuff.

If I got paid 1/8th as much as I do now, I would also put in 1/8 of the effort.

Let’s be mindful of how we talk about our colleagues. Frustrations with performance or collaboration are valid and should be addressed constructively through the right channels. But blaming an entire team or nationality isn’t helpful and doesn’t reflect the professionalism we should all strive for. If there are gaps in skills or expectations, that’s a management and training issue—not a reason to generalize or demean.

Wow same here. I built dashboards in Power BI to help with some stewardship. I handed it off to the dude in India. He didn’t even know how to use power pivot. Of all the Indians, Exxon hires the ones without computer skills.

I got a DM lat week from BTC that was so poorly written, I couldn’t understand the message. Found out that most write up message/email and then put in copilot to correct for them before sending. I guess that will compensate for inability to communicate on their own???

We are now shifting hours and only allowed early morning meetings or night meetings because they are worried about their work/life balance. I’m waiting for them to tell US engineers at sites will work nights to make BTC happy. Also told to put BTC holidays on our calendar and never schedule over their holidays. I get calls on Christmas and Easter, nobody cared about my work/life balance

The BTC I work with will take my slides, make nonsensical changes then present them as their own (with no mention of me). Then later on they will ask me for new data/analysis.

I worked at another company years ago, that contracted with the largest Indian tech company, rhymes with DaDa. Every morning I would redline the work. Send it back. Next morning stuff that was correct yesterday was now messed up. Problem is I cared too much about the work, the project. So I complained and they gave it back to me. I suppose I should have just let it continue. I eventually left. Last day I gave an earfull to the management about how poorly it was run, eventually the project was cancelled.

Because we are in India to save money and we don’t hire the best, we hire the cheapest in India.
Same is true in KL. We used the hire the best but with growth rate , we hire anyone who has a diploma

I hate to admit it, this is actually true. Quality is simply not there. Also, you can write a perfect requirements document, and still get something else.

Also, I'm starting to see a pattern. The "victim" mentality. Mispronounce their names, OMG!, they will go to HR.

Just saying.

This is common everywhere. Hire this under performing engineer who has limited experience that we pay $10 / hr. Train them to do your job. When the time is right, we'll put you down.
