Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Albuquerque Center

Well. They are getting rid of 150 positions in Albuquerque. They closed half the center about a year ago... Got rid of some of the amenities. I commented here that I saw it coming.

If any of you execs are reading this site, have some compassion.... And comment and let us know. Here's the thing... It's hard to get a job here... One of the lowest paying states in the union. We have mouths to feed... Everyone in this community is on welfare, disability or dr-gs. The rest of us want to take care of our families and are willing to work hard... Many of us have advanced degrees. Let us know so we can look for a new job so we can feed our families.. it's funny... One of the top performing centers at Fidelity, and they want to close it.... We handle 3x the work as the other centers.. what happened Fidelity... Did your tax shelters expire? How sad .. so much for diversity equity and inclusion.... The most ethnically diverse center and y'all choose to treat us like trash.

I heard they are getting rid of some roles, but bringing 200 other spots to ABQ so it's a net gain of 50 employees. Its not layoffs. Its a shift in work flow and responsibilities type.

25th most violent city in the world... Look it up...mostly native American, Hispanic population... We work for less money than our counterparts. They tell us they pay is less bc..
and this is a quote I've heard from many people in MGMT when questioned.. "because we don't have to". We are given no retirement accounts like other sites. We don't get profit sharing (every other US site does). Out hourly wages are less than the other sites.... And I've seen the numbers myself... We handle three times the amount of work.... We are given less time... Less respect and treated with disdain .. and our directors are only concerned with their own well-being... So go ahead Fidelity .. show your cards... Let's talk Abt DEI... People of color... Lifting people up... LGBTQ ... It's all a front to make yourself look good... Tell us the truth... Your tax write offs expired...

I'm the one who made the comment about the cookie without reading any more of the post. I never knew many people in NM as a whole are struggling. If this happened already/will actually happen, my condolences for your means to make a wage. Might be hypocritical coming from me after making a callous comment (or maybe the negativity of this site got to me), but when you're laid off from Fidelity, people are extremely cold. Once you get the news you were laid off, don't do anymore work, just hand in what you have and focus on calling up people asking for work. Although government jobs aren't stable right now, you might be able to get one there for a while to support your family financially, even in a terrible situation it's in right now. No offense to the government, but would it be any different working for the government than Fidelity? People stepping on each other to get to the top, many people not knowing how to do their job, a demand for RTO, forcing you to summarize what you did for work in a week. You're going to want to network as well. Fidelity's job placement services are laughable, but they can help you network and get your name out there. Don't forget Fidelity has a stellar reputation. Although we know the truth about this place, you can sell it to your advantage.

Cancel DWW. Let us just work from home rest of the year. Without being threatened that we’re not in good standing for not attending DWW
