Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Jump ship?

Love my current position within Optum, but with my teams getting cut in half, again, for offshore employees should I take a position with UHG, even if it’s something I don’t really want, with higher pay? Wouod leave the company all together but with everyone offshoring seems like a pain in the a-s nationwide.

Your current team is being dismantled there is your sign run dont walk to the next thing. Take the UHG job to have cashflow while you look for anything else. As for professional courtesy of two week notice sc--w that they dont deserve it. They will drop you like a hot rock so that is the courtesy they deserve in return. Most likely they will march you out the door same day you give notice. If you line up the next gig worry about pleasing them not this dumpster fire. Professionalism is just a fancy way of saying get abused and like it for nothing. The definition in the current arena has no resemblance to what it did in the past so adapt.

This company is in perpetual layoffs. If you’re ok and willing to roll the dice, stay. However if you don’t like where the company is going then leave. You are in different journey than me so take it with grain of salt as I am close to retirement. As we say what company does is gravity issue. Good luck in your decision

I may suggest this, as someone feeling similarly. If you believe your current role is likely to be eliminated, I would go for the UHG opportunity. If you don't get it, nothing really changes for you. If you do get it, it sounds like you'll be more financially secure.

All the while, you can be applying elsewhere. If you get the new UHG role and then get a truly-desired opportunity outside of this monstrosity a short time later, that's great! I wouldn't be worried about appearances in only keeping the UHG role a short time. It doesn't sound like there would be any desire to return anyway, which I don't blame you for in the slightest. And have these entities really shown humanity in their mass layoffs, besides?

Just give your two weeks' notice at the UHG stop as a professional courtesy and praise the skies above you no longer have to deal with this place.
