My whole department is having a reorganization where people are being changed teams drastically. Does this mean a RIF is coming or do they do this periodically?

been here 16 years been passed around like the town bike every 9 to 12 mos. the checks still clear. i do the same thing always been doing. have to lookup what org i work for it changes so much. Optum / ingenix culture embrace the chaos and hide in plain sight
Oops, sorry, correction to my dates (year) of lower grade RIFs for Optum Tech.
correction on year April 6, 2023 was a major Optum Tech RIF
July 18th, 2024 Major Optum Tech RIF
For 2024, there was also a UHC Tech & Optum IT major RIF on May 16th.
For my area of Optum Technology, within the last 3 years, reorgs happened every 3-18 months (more frequently than past). A new one is coming soon which is within ~15 months of the last reorg.
To avoid a larger target on my back, I won't state my current department.
In the past (3+ years ago), reorgs happened every 18+ months...less frequently.
The current leadership clearly does not know how to organize Optum Technology. I am sure they have the excuse of a reorg benefiting their goal of 100x to the Cloud & AI.
In the past, a reorg has not indicted a RIF.
2024 major Optum Tech RIFs:

▪︎ While lower Optum Tech grades were RIFed on earlier 2024 dates

• July 18th
IMHO, You are more likely to see a reorg after a major RIF (thousands RIFed), then before a RIF.
I did not note all 2024 RIF dates. You can scroll through 2024 posts to find specifics.
