@pxv yeah, I have a bachelors degree and am a god basically now in Poland. Everyone in the bank bows when I enter the building. I work 10-14, no one cares. Funny thing it is still more efficient and employee friendly than any American bank. Cheers

@8fe

You just described the business processes and culture of Non-US banks and Non-US companies in general.

The USA has higher standards, requirements and expectations of their employees. In Europe, graduating from University with NO work experience automatically makes you qualified to hold senior level jobs. This is absurd and doesn't happen in the USA.

USA employers and banks require a Bachelors Degree at the minimum, if not also graduate academic degree (MBA, PhD, Masters, etc.) AND several years of work experience.

There's more discrimination outside of the USA. Women are relegated to menial roles or Not promoted even though they may have more and better skills and knowledge as their male counterparts. It's bad enough for Caucasian and Asian women. You can guess it's infinitely worse for women of colour.

In Europe, once you have a Bachelors Degree from University, you're G0D !

Worst things about UBS:

  • lifer leaders since graduate with zero industry or knowledge experience, heavily protected ‘know the bodies’ and useless
  • minimum of 3 people doing every role
  • no change management processes or culture meaning culture of no delivery (seriously).
  • consensus / diplomacy culture means every single eejit has to agree however junior non-relevant and any minor normal discussion is then a potential ‘negative feedback’ when really required to progress delivery - a real shock when coming from a US org myself
  • above ED rank is entirely male and women actively excluded even when vital for role. When women do well, more senior men are given their work/ output and they’re managed out or moved role (saw this so many times). Dreadful. As a man I challenged but then ostracised myself.
