Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Intense burnout

I'm so overwhelmed nowadays.

Our team has just people and we've been begging for a backfill but it's been months and months and it's clearly but going to happen.

Meanwhile, our boss is busy having big ideas and piling more work and responsibilities on us without any kind of promotion or raise, expecting us all to do the work of three or four people.

I'm done trying to impress anyone. If the work doesn't get done they can hire more people.

You must leave. You are probably creating a toxic environment for everyone else.

You control this! Don’t work extra if it isn’t worth doing.

Here is what I do :

Go to the office, take a few deep breaths and look at my 401k.

One hour later, take a few deep breaths, look at 3M stock price.

A few hours later, take a few deep breaths, scroll though this message board.

A few hours later, take a few deep breaths, and it is time to go home.

I’m so exhausted. My boss keeps telling everyone on the team that we aren’t meeting expectations. Every day it’s a new ask. I’m working late into the night and cannot keep this up.

I don’t know how to manage my workload within my 40 hours and keep hearing I’m not doing enough. Everyone on my team is at our breaking point.

Move on to a company that values your worth. Your mental and physical health will thank you for it.

Try quiet quitting, try meditation and mindfulness in office.

My boss flat-out told me that promotions are on hold because of tariffs.

So anytime more than the bare minimum needed to keep my job is also on hold, until there's a reason to do better than the minimum.

You've made the wise choice. Never ever work harder than 40 hours per week. BB is trying to scare people into working harder and longer while sitting on his yacht in Florida, making the occasional Lear Jet trip to lowly Maplewood.

For decades, people happily went above and beyond because 3M was the best place to work in the Twin Cities. That came to a crashing end when Mcnerney brought his GE style draconian ways to ruin a great company.

Be nice to your team and stay offline on nights and weekends. Your boss will explode when people refuse to put it an extra 25 percent and get kicked in the shin later. He or she will be fired when the "stretch goal" metrics imposed by BB and his minions are not met.
