Laying off workers diminishes income tax revenue and Social Security and Medicare Revenue in addition to state tax revenue in states with income taxes. Taxing the rich increases income tax revenue without sacrificing existing revenue streams. Imagine if all political campaign financing and cowardly dark money contributions were paid in taxes. Bribery is not and has never been free speech.
