Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

What am I missing?

Every week, another person leaves. This place isn’t perfect, but it’s far from the worst. Yet people keep leaving like it’s a sinking ship. Outside of layoffs, are they seeing something I’m not? I don’t love it here, but I don’t hate it either.

If this keeps up, we’ll all be covering three roles just to keep things running. Maybe it’s the pay, maybe it’s the culture, but something’s clearly broken. Either way, it’s getting harder to ignore.

Little to no pay increases (oh except for upper management), no promotions, zero room for growth. Who wants to be overworked and underpaid, with no brighter days in sight?

@b1+1jr19101k I agree. I just do not get this place. How can so much go wrong for so long with excuse after excuse? It's like people don't know their head from their bottom.

It only seems that way at Citi. Trust me, they are fleeting other companies as well. People who leave here will leave their new employment within a year or two or three, again. No one is ever satisfied.

it is an oppressive culture which is not based on a true meritocracy plus it is under constant scrutiny from regulators for issues which do not seem to have a clear resolution in many cases mgrs have correspondence mba degrees and their lack of a formal education is obvious. who would honestly want to work in an environment where the message was get off the train, etc.

I agree it’s really not that bad. Maybe I just came from a much worse place. My only real complaint is duplicated processes and an overbearing control team. They assign too many trainings that are only applicable to maybe 5% in our entire department and putting everyone as monitored for personal trading. Also too many PowerPoints for things that can be addressed in a simple email to answer a question. I guess that’s more than I thought but it wouldn’t be enough to make me look elsewhere.

Role, manager, workload, pay and culture are all factors. People are tired of working 3 jobs for less than the comp of one. The reasons are endless. Maybe you’re just one the lucky few.
