If you are the oldest in your job description in your department, polish up the resume.

If your family has high healthcare costs, polish up the resume.

If you are 40+ years old, polish up the resume.

Don't for a second think that Micron dosen't discriminate based on age when doing a RIF. The severance package is a bribe, plain and simple. It calls outthat you are waving your protections of the age discrimination act by signing it.

Ask yourself or your coworkers how many people they know that have retired from Micron vs been driven out with performance management, Layoffs, or voluntary severance.

The executives are going to use evasive language about layoffs until it's time to drop the hammer of course but you don't need to hear them say it to know layoffs are coming soon. Anyone who takes a realistic look at how the tariffs will affect our bottom line has to conclude that the phrase "headcount reductions" is front and center in the plans they're drawing up to weather this storm.
We do layoffs in response to one bad quarter with slightly weaker than expected guidance. What do you think we're going to do when a trade war wreaks havoc on supply chains in ways that covid never did and affects every customer and supplier we have?
