@OP--sorry, darlin'. that's apples and airplanes.

"T" for 'tariff' and "T" for 'tax.' A TARIFF IS A TAX. it adds cost to foreign goods that have been imported. why? in theory, it's so domestic goods have a slight price advantage in the market.

but let's be real here, folks. here's what really happens.

► [Item X] is an integral part of a medical procedure and costs $100.
► But X comes from China. at the time of this post, X is subject to a 145% tariff.
► Now X costs $245. ($100 original cost + $145 tariff)
► Now [Procedure Y] has to integrate the new cost of X which means it's double what it used to cost patients.
► UHG has to pay the claim. it pays 37.4952% because that's the ratio it decides is fair for Y.
► but UHG only used to pay 29.41% for Y, so now they have to make up the difference in the budget.
► that means more layoffs because the bottom line is paramount.

so when we have paper shortages because Canadian softwood isn't imported and when your entire business segment's jobs vanish,...be sure to thank your fearless leader.

We all know that won't happen. Nice try though. Everything will be India and Phillipines. Our clients will continue to lose money at horrifying rates. Just hope I don't lose my severance if/when I am riffed.

He is coming after any foreign entity earning from US and not paying tariffs or VAT or whatever it is called.

Tariffs have absolutely nothing to do with outsourcing work.

@jt+1jqyaxfgz Because his base is majority blue collar worker not educated white collar. Start thinking in terms of what gets the most votes and looks the best on TV, not what’s actually good for the US.

It's a matter of when not if!! Why an administration which he-l bent to bring good jobs, will ignore any IT jobs.

Sometimes I wonder how Trump won the election twice. But after this post, let’s just say I don’t wonder any more.

Tariffs are just a symptom of having a d-mb d-mb run your country. Tariffs won't eliminate your jobs it will the the loss in quarterly earnings from a self inflicted stock market crash that will. D-mb d-mb went golfing - just like he did when he let us die from a pandemic. Jokes on you America

Tariffs are for imported goods not services oversees. If anything, as the cost of business goes up, UHG will offshore more jobs.

OP thinks the tariffs apply to IT talent and call center jobs. LMAO

I’ve been posting on X to doge_ssa to look into forcing employers like UHG to contribute to SSA and the local state unemployment insurance for every high paying job they offshore. UHG/Optum are not the good guys, they leach off the American government and taxpayer!

Wish that were the case, but tariffs don't apply to outsourcing. My trick knee tells me it will only result in more outsourcing. Sadly.

The tariffs are for manufacturing jobs- not out sourcing, like UHG does. Sadly :-(
