The question is introduced to ask why management that have worked at U.P. for years have been cut just to go back to the craft to retire?
Also a once terrible director has been given a management job in Little Rock, when there are better people for the job. It's my assumption that they want to get rid of good management and keep worn out heartless derelicts.
But the good management keep quiet in town halls and try to retire with a piece of the pie.

Where is it getting slim? We have 1 manager for every 4 employees..
That is funny. Proviso's brightest was mit smart and quit over a year ago. Tired of company b.s. and games.
LA basin mechanical managers have merged with car department management.
Looks like they did very little.. And still have way too many managers.. One day we will each have our own manager
Proviso has sent its brightest manager to NLR Jenks shop as a senior manager. Not by choice is word on the street.
Who is the terrible Manager coming to Little Rock. We all want to know the deal with this Manager.
It needs to repeated again and again, UP’s biggest problem is managers who lie. If as stated previously UP managers need to be concerned with doing what is necessary and not saying / doing what their supervisors want to hear. Legislatures should pass laws that mandate if a manager lies, conceals, or has any defects or short staffing levels on what they are responsible for “managing’ that manager pays a personal fine and or gets charged w/ crimes that result in prison sentences. Anything less than this and managers wont quit lying.
In some instances management in mechanical can not go back to tools.Read your contract and understand the Collective Bargaining Agreement. If Union allows this file and stand firm.Always remember you are to follow contract dont let Union lie to you. And most of the time local reps are lost when it comes to c.b.a. Higher officials are crooks.....
You kind of answered your own question there! The answer is painfully obvious that the UP cares more about it's managers way more than the workers it needs to actually get the work done. The UP did a management shake-up/reorganizing a few years ago, and the problems since then have gotten much worse. UP's solution to that problem was to hire or promote more managers and layoff more workers. The UP's solution to the managerial slim down now is to let those managers bump other people out of a job that they've done for years just so they can keep working. Nevermind the fact that someone lost their job just so they could keep theirs. Those directors and managers get a lower pay in most cases, and eliminate one more person to satisfy Vena's agenda. There's always better people for certain managerial positions, but it's not what the company wants. It's better to keep a bad manager who will do anything the company wants, instead of keeping a good manager that will do what is necessary. The point is that the UP is the creator of their own problems. The company has said for several years now, "We are listening". No they're not! They're yelling and swearing at the very people that they should be listening too. I gave up believing anything the UP or it's management has said. Most of it has turned out to be outright lies anyways. I'm sure a manager will read this and be all hurt about it. I've said for well over 20 years to many new hires that the UP management are not your friends! My location had a few good managers, but those were very few. The UP management has way too many liars in it's ranks and needs to be eliminated from the company entirely. The bad managers shouldn't be allowed to bump anyone because all they're doing is moving the problem to somewhere else. The problems at the UP are going to continue as long as the UP keeps the problem "former" management at the company. Things calm down, setback managers get promoted back to a management position, and the current game starts allover again.
