Once PIPd your odds of being PIPd again greatly increase. It is much easier to keep piping the same person than to argue they improved and someone else should be PIPd. Very dangerous for a supervisor to try change who in their group is PIPd as they will likely just end up with two people being PIPd from their team if they try that!

If you are pipped 3 times in 5 years you’re terminated. But during a PIP, if you’re not progressing, the supervisor should be going through the process to terminate you. PIP is pretty clear that you’re supposed to get employees to VG performance after completing. Otherwise you’re wasting everyone’s time as a supervisor. Not saying you deserved it, but NSI or NI performance probably means you’re not getting a raise. I’m sorry - that su-ks. As an experienced hire you have to quickly build a brand and network with many functions and supervisors. Otherwise, you’re at risk to be let go. All the opportunities are set out for young engineers that haven’t even been assessed - so you’re behind as an experienced hire. Even worse - you’re always tagged as an experienced hire compared to a campus hire.

Once you are PIPd the best thing you can do is start looking for a new job and leave on your own timing. There is no happy ending to a PIP story

what about if you're an experienced hire and you're pip'd in your first PDS cycle?

3 PIPs in 5 years results in automatic firing

All depends on the quality of lawyer you have. They back off pretty quick then.

Yep. It's likely unless your supervisor has your back. If they aren't actively working with you to get your ranking up, unfortunately you should expect it.

It does not matter what you do, you are out. EM does not like you.
