Intel Is A “Nobody”

Intel Is A “Nobody” & Should Merge With Mature Chip Technology Firms, Says Former TSMC co-COO

TSMC's former co-chief operating officer, Chiang Shang-yi, didn't hold back when talking about Intel's chip manufacturing woes at an event in Taiwan. Chiang served at TSMC until 2013, and he is one of the firm's core team members who helped establish it as a global contract chip manufacturing powerhouse. Chiang, along with the dean of Taiwan's National Tsing Hua University, spoke at a book launch in Taiwan yesterday where the former TSMC executive advised Intel to move into mature chip manufacturing processes to win as it was too far behind TSMC to catch up. Chiang added that while Intel was formerly a "king" of the chip industry, it was now a "nobody."

The turnaround died when Pat made a bunch of terrible hires. All the brilliant people I knew at Intel before I left shared stories about the problems these hires were causing throughout the company. I had personally worked with one of the hires in the past (not going to name names) and knew that that person in that position would be a disaster. A CEO's number one job is to hire the people with winning track records who will tirelessly and creatively drive success.

Wait wait. STOP. Please do not get it confused; Lip-Bu is not here to save or turn Intel around. Please be clear about this. It is not main mission. He is not trying to save Intel or return it to its former elevated position in the semiconductor industry.

Well when Pat became ceo , even Morris Chang said that Pat is too old and intel employees aren’t great and it proved right … so same thing with this case also..Intel credibility is at stake until it delivers strongly and aggressively to market, Lip-Bu could be a good fit from this perspective but right now looks like he is another power point guy trying to appease folks in Vegas interest of looking at burning problem which is employee moral and attrition , somehow I feel unless ceo is connected to this core issue he can’t deliver …sorry guys to be pessimistic but intel doesn’t have a great future , it will
Definitely survive though ..

That's not a very nice way to talk about one of your long term, substantial customers.

Intel helped TSMC as a key customer when it first got started and still is a very large customer.

Maybe TSMC executives are just trying to please Winnie the Pooh, preparing for the day when the island is reunited with the mother country?

Intel has lost a lot of key people.
High performers that really made a difference are now earning much more at other places.

How can Intel regain leadership without talent?

At the end of the day, it’s the people that drive progress and success. I don’t think the current roster at Intel is up to the task of out-competing others in this fiercely competitive industry.

People are finally saying the quiet part out loud. Many have been saying for many years not but now the average Joe public person is also seeing it. The majority is seeing it. Intel can and will never bounce back. It will evolve into something different and significantly smaller and less prominent and prestigious

When the real opinion is all open to the public, it means the comeback of Intel will be arduous and long.

See what TSMC has to say when China stops by Taiwan for a visit.

Just go talk to GloFlo folks. They think they are better than us now and look down on us. They are biting at big to buy us and treat us like slaves.
