Western Alliance Bank recently reported a data breach involving unauthorized access to personal information due to a vulnerability in a third-party vendor's secure file transfer software. The breach occurred between October 12 and October 24, 2024, but Western Alliance Bank did not learn of the incident until January 27, 2025. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor exploited the software vulnerability, gaining access to files containing sensitive information such as names and Social Security numbers. Dates of birth, financial account numbers, driver’s license numbers, tax identification numbers, and passports may have also been exposed, if provided to Western Alliance.
A total of 21,899 individuals were reportedly affected by the data breach impacting Western Alliance Bank.
