Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Is it over for this year?

The layoffs were planned to finish Q1 2025. Is it over for this year? Anyone knows what’s going on?

It also depends on the macro environment. Even if they say they’re done with layoffs for the year, everything could change depending on how things unfold globally. With the U.S. potentially striking Iran, we’re likely to see increased market volatility.

And as you know, tech companies don’t do well with uncertainty - they’ll make more cuts if the market stays shaky for too long. We’re witnessing a shift in global power, and no one really knows what’s going to happen. So don’t waste your energy worrying about layoffs. Instead, spend that time with your loved ones, friends, and the people who matter most.

If you don’t realise that layoffs are here to stay, then you haven’t been observing what is going on at SAP. The layoffs will continue until it no longer lines CK’s pocket in the form of share price growth. Look at what the pre 2024 share price was and the current price. All the RISE revenue is coming from cannibalising maintenance and that gravy train ends soon.

In Germany, no. They got rid of half the works council. And the other half is being pressured into accepting a deal. More layoffs to be announced on April 22. Harmonised Product Operating Model is a part of this optimisation exercise. The are ongoing conversations to remove most product owners. And to get rid of developers who don’t want to work under non-technical development managers.

That's what they said, it's supposed to be over for 2025. Personally I don't trust them, since they've blatantly lied about layoffs multiple times in the past. For my own mental health I choose not to worry about it until I have a concrete reason to.

I'll continue exploring the market but it's pretty awful right now, and as bad as the constant layoffs are, SAP is still better than must employers in the US.
