Texas Instruments is the next Intel. I used to work close with LFAB teams. Know a few people who were laid off. I worked at SM1 up until a month ago - I quit for a position at a competitor. I was a NCG, was at TI exactly 2 years to keep my sign on bonus. The toxic work culture is insane here. Pulled too many 24 hour shifts. Was promised for a year that by my manager that they would get a new team member to help start up the fab (IT). Lies lies lies. Hiring freezes and layoffs. Texas Instruments is a joke.... If you were lucky to keep your job at LFAB... For the love of God start looking elsewhere!!!!

I can confirm within my process engineering group alone, myself included, more than 50% layoffs. I witnessed large numbers being laid off as a group across multiple areas and job types.

I am another. Over a decade since IM Flash days. A supervisor leading several different equipment technician teams in several areas. Seems like there is no rhyme or reason. Truly feel for my fellow colleagues that have been affected. No notice. 5 min Webex meeting and that is it. I hope there’s a mass exodus in addition and they feel the pain at the exec level. I agree with most of you here that they should have started at the very top. For a company that makes billions in revenue each year including the CHIPS act, seems like they’re just lining their pockets. Take care everyone and connect if LinkedIn if you want.

ADT now has to move a portion of their headcount into HVM to keep the place running 24 x 7. There is now insufficient head count in HVM process engineering to support the projects required to make the plant operations profitable.

The Micron Ferrari hasn’t sped down the autobahn in well over 5 years, and is turning into a rusty pile of bolts. More headcount wasn’t going to bring this fab out of the red, so why not try running it like a Pinto. This really su-ks for everyone that was affected, but the writing was on the wall. I fully expect ADT to merge with HVM shortly and try a combined hand at making some damn profit.

Yes, 15+ years engineering experience, mass layoffs at the Lehi fab without warning. Prior to the layoffs the message from site leadership was “Just Believe”.

I have 20 years experience in this industry, all at the plant in Lehi. When it was IMFlash we won awards year over year over year for our ability to bring new products out to the masses. We would take a new product from inception to mass production in less than two years. The talent and knowledge that was at this site was second to none. When Texas Instruments bought the site it was like going from working in a private sector to working for the government. There was more red tape and bureaucracy to the job than actual working. What made IMFlash and micron so successful in Lehigh was the ability to see issues and pivot in real time. Now, if an issue is seen, you have to get the blessing from the Almighty Dallas to make a change and that can take a week if not longer. They Purchased a site that ran like a Ferrari and decided to drive it like a pinto And wonder why it’s not working. I would honestly put money on this site shutting down within the next two years after being able to Manufacturer five times the product under better leadership and a better run company. That will be sad due to the fact that it once employed close to 2000 people. But don’t tell the executives at TI that. They know everything, you know nothing so just do what you’re told.

All I can say is the best thing I ever did was go in and make those fools look me in the eye when they laid me off. It was cathartic watching those weasels squirm. LFAB management has created a toxic work environment, with little to no motivation to do anything but the bare minimum. The worst thing I ever did in my life was “act like an owner” and continuously give to a company that didn’t give two craps about me. I was just a number to them. I missed out on family vacations and spent 70 hours a week going above and beyond—for what? I hope the entire company goes belly up.

There is something about TI leadership that seems very off. Doesn’t feel inspiring anymore. They are always berating you. If you do a good job they ask you why it was not better? The TMG chain of command of Park — Dunlap— Yunus—Haviv is just toxic.
Previous CEO and Kyle were good people leaders.

I’m still here as well. Massive layoffs just affecting our fab in Lehi (not company wide) due to the current nature of the site with having more employees than the quantity of wafers being manufactured which is because of many reasons, but mainly from not hitting the goals set for us after the acquisition in October 2021. Many teams heavily impacted with 50%+ team members laid off.

Anyone knows if the layoffs are only at LFAB or all across TI?

TI su-ks. Calculators are subpar. I prefer HP.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a U.S. law requiring employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60 calendar days' advance written notice of a plant closing or mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees

I left IM Flash when the joint venture dissolved, but have several friends who were absorbed when TI purchased the site. I was impacted by the Intel layoffs in November. I am still trying to find work. My heart goes out to all of you. I have never known so many people who have been laid off in my 30 years in the industry and it’s devastating. I pray that things turn around.

I’d been told that WARN applied if there was over 500 ppl or 50% layoffs. But I could be mistaken.

I'm still here and have heard it's 50%-60% of the workforce was let go. Those of us left think this has to do with corporate TI saying this site is too expensive to operate.

WARN notice is usually for a plant closing. I don't believe that LFAB is going to close.

Wouldn’t layoffs of this magnitude require a WARN notice?

It seems like it's around 50%, certain departments have been completely eliminated (don't know which ones). Pray that you didn't get a text today. Can't say if whomever comes in tomorrow is safe. But I'd like my chances. It's almost closing time here in Lehi, may the remaining hour pass quickly.

I heard a rumor it's a 50% RIF, anyone able to confirm if it is that severe?

Was laid off today with zero forewarning. My manager didn't even know it was happening.

Texas Instruments is absolute trash and an affront to professionalism in general. LFAB has been a mismanaged free paycheck for incompetent boomer mo--ns for the last 15 years. People like Ryan Mills, now demoted management failure, who ran the site into the ground for decades and is now sitting on a cushy middle management position instead of being made an example of. Instead of justice, we get the same old horses who have been at the trough for decades protected and the future of the company laid to waste.

I will never again work for Texas Instruments, I earnestly hope the company ceases to exist, and I hope anyone who is proud of the work they did there is disgusted by what a complete lie the company was and has been. "Act like owners who will own the company for decades", everything from the bullsh-t corporate values to the fake "hard work" and "sense of urgency" management liked to vomit constantly were a joke.

If you haven’t been laid off yet, but get a text for a mandatory virtual meeting… you’re gone. It’s been a lot of people today. Good people with lots of experience and seems like they threw darts at a board to decide.

All good managers have left the Lehi site and all we are left is id--ts and incompetent people. No chance in he-l this site survives.

Process engineer with 12 years tenure and a high level of impact across multiple projects. I was part of one group of about 30 people who got the news at the same time. Best of luck to everyone impacted.

If anyone thinks this is due to the CHIPS act and not corporate greed, gross mismanagement and complete executive incompetence then I’ve got a concept of a bridge to sell you. The whole point of the CHIPS act was to have TI receive and invest over $700 million here in Utah and bring in over 800 new jobs, but as you can see the fat cats up top have a different idea.

This is the reason it is so vitaly important we protest and get the Trump administration to rescind all chip act rewards. This is unacceptable. Just think of...you are actually paying for this through taxes.

The Lehi site for Texas Instruments is a lost cause. We lost really talented people over the last 4 years through attrition. Now with this layoff of 3/27/25 they laid off half of teams with no specific strategy. The new management is abrupt and illogical. They don’t know what they are doing and just driving this business in the ground. Everyone was overloaded with work and now nobody know what to work on.

Should a process technician who has been at the lehi fab since it was IM FLASH be worried?

I was one of the laid off. I am a supervisor and lost a few of my team members. Almost 30 years ended with a 5 min meeting over Webex

I’m one. I don’t know the count but maybe a few hundred. Decent severance package.
Regardless, I don’t see any TI Sr. management/execs getting laid off for incompetence, poor strategy, and creating horrible manufacturing culture over the last few years. All while taking money from the Chips.
I would never encourage a NCG, or anyone for that matter, to apply for a job here.
