Some people want to change jobs and would love the severance. Others need their jobs and do not want to get laid off.

I am ready to go! I have quiet-quitted and they still keep me on. Why won't they lay me off and save someone's job that wants to work?
They want you to quit so they dont have to lay you off to avoid the severance. Also your plan about quiet quitting might backfire and they will just fire you. If there are announced layoffs ask if you can volunteer to save someone from getting laid off. My former boss did that. Getting ready to retire and asked to be laid off to get severance.
If this post is serious, and if you don’t like your job just leave! You are hurting the people that want to stay so your actions have consequences. It is honorable to do the right thing.

The key here is to get laid off when you want it! Make mistakes on purpose. Go slow. Ask for clarification on everything. Show no initiative at all. Embarrass your boss at every opportunity.
Here you do not want to do anything to get fired. Just enough to get laid off.
It su-ks that some people want to work there and get laid off while others are at 1/4 speed and just can't get laid off.
I worked until I was ready to get out. Then I worked really hard to get the severance. They eventually gave it to me. The difference was a 6-digit check versus a cake and a small token-gift. I am glad I took the check!!!
