Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

10-k filing is out 108k employees as of January

As of January 31, 2025, we had approximately 108,000 employees. Throughout Fiscal 2025, we remained committed to disciplined cost management in coordination with our ongoing business modernization initiatives and continued to take certain measures to reduce costs, including limitation of external hiring, employee reorganizations, and other actions to align our investments with our announced strategic and customer priorities. These actions resulted in a reduction in our overall headcount. Despite these difficult decisions, we continue focused efforts to empower our employees and attract, develop, and retain talent.

“we continue focused efforts to empower our employees and attract, develop, and retain talent.”

LOL. Just a flat out lie.

Further down:

"We... expect continued reductions in operating expenses as we take certain measures to reduce costs, including limitation of external hiring, employee reorganizations, and other actions to align our investments with our strategic priorities and customer needs. We anticipate these actions will result in additional reductions in our overall headcount."

Something we already knew, of course...

"Wait until you learn we hired 7500 new people last year."
No doubt in lower cost locations - Egypt, India and so on.

This reduction is a 3 year plan. So those who remain have years of this pathetic excuse of 'leadership' to work with constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if you are next to be picked for WFR.

I don't know about anyone else but this does not make me want to delight our customers, go the extra mile, or invest any of my time in this company. On the contrary, I will do the bare minimum and show our customers the same level of value/respect that our 'leaders' show us.

One does not retain talent while simultaneously operating a death by a thousand cuts policy which sees vast amounts of knowledge thrown out the door.

"empower our employees and attract, develop, and retain talent..." This is absolutely laughable. Dell's heel turn over the last few years includes creating one of the most miserable, unstable, insecure work environments imaginable. Nobody is empowered when digesting flailing org changes cycle after cycle while looking forward to endless rolling layoffs. The contrast between my new role and my role in finance at Dell is shocking. I had no clue just how wretched it was to be at Dell, and it has gotten worse since I left!

"WTF. I thought they were going for 100k then 80k. We’re going backwards"

Wait until you learn we hired 7500 new people last year.

Is this sarcasm or do they really think anyone buys that load of horsesh-t?
