Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum is not worth the wait

Why are so many waiting for severance? Getting severance is never a sure thing. Companies are not required to hand it out. It is completely up to them if they feel like offering anything or not.

Do not sit around expecting a payout that may never come. You could end up stranded with no backup plan in a job market flooded with others in the exact same boat.

Walk away while you still have control over what happens next!

I was there 38 years and only received 26 weeks of severance. Age discrimination does exist, but they know they have you because they know you need your severance and won’t sue them.

UHG/Optum is cheap, it’s standard practice for any midsize or larger corporation to give 2wks per year of service. Optum gives 1wk/yr, and often without any extension of medical besides COBRA which I think is required or placement assistance which can be helpful. But of course they don’t care about you, they just want you gone and to sign away your rights as an employee. I have $200k in stock so I don’t want them to fail but it doesn’t change the fact the company is run by di-kheads!

Companies pay severance to get the employee to sign a document saying they won't sue the company.

I have been laid off at other companies & they all offer severance to get the employee to sign the document (required for receiving payout).

Optum won't stop offering severance.

Laughable! Naw give me money and I will go away dirt bag. For now just sit and watch it burn. Healthcare for profit is absolutely the most inhuman thing I have ever witnessed and want to stay and watch it all come crumbling down.
