Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Being laid off from Optum

I was laid off from Optum last April, rehired shortly after, and then laid off again this past October. But truthfully, I saw it coming. There was barely any work to do. The silver lining? I secured a new role, and honestly, being laid off from Optum was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

No more feeling undervalued. No more reporting to managers who had no business leading, let alone making decisions that impacted others. The environment was draining, and I knew I was meant for more.

Now, I’m in a role that excites me, challenges me, and values what I bring to the table. It was scary stepping into the unknown, but God’s favor is unstoppable. What’s for you will never miss you and this new chapter was right on time.

I hope this encourages someone who may be in a season of uncertainty. Sometimes a setback is really just a setup for something greater.

When you guys landed other roles- are you saying within the company or elsewhere? I fear I might be next and I got a lil one to care for. I’m trying to get my ducks in a row by applying elsewhere and I know ppl don’t typically like to give out their place of employment but can you recommend some places or anything??

Honestly, it’s great getting severance and taking a break along with unemployment. No more reporting to Directors who don’t know what’s going on and stealing your ideas to make themselves look better. Who were also hired by friends. What a joke!

I was also laid off November 1st, found a job that I am much happier at with no stress, making way more money and regular 8-5 hours, no more 60-80 hour weeks. It's amazing to wake up not feeling dread every day because of your job. There are much better places to work besides this place, took me getting laid off to realize that.

I was like go on November 1, 2024 and I have to say it was one of the most freeing feelings I’ve ever had. I can’t believe what a toxic work environment I was actually working in. I feel so much better today than I have in the many years that I worked there. Glad it became a positive experience for you.
