Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Cut all 1st line

Cut all first line managers who cannot do a call when their tech lead is unavailable. Cut everyone who has been here for 15+ years and has not made it Grade 10 or above. That shows no skills to progress and doing work most likely a Grade 8 or 9 can do. Cut all people who's only job is to attend meetings and those who gather updates from ICs and pass them on upwards.
All that is probably around 30K easily. And if you add low performers that's another few K.

Intel PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows. Senior Fellows are worthless! No wonder the company is going bankrupt! Paying $400K+ compensation for these Grade10+ dinosaurs doing grade 8/9 work and surviving by nepot$sm, favoritism and brown nosing! The can't find a job outside Intel and so they just hang around collecting paychecks!

FLM are in the trenches with us, middle management is what needs cut. FLM’s at least in my org are the only competent ones that add value

Removing all managers is not enough. The company needs to reprioritize by eliminating unnecessary products and projects first, simplifying processes, removing redundant positions, and then removing management. The reverse is insufficient.

Need to cut the layers first. FLMs keep the lanterns lit. What I want to see is the layers between FLM and VP compressed to no more than 2 or 3. Only FLMs can have ICs and those FLMs need to have min 8 people. No more Directors or PEs without reports. No More VPs reporting to VPs with no or very little teams. THAT IS WHAT MIDDLE MANAGEMENT IS!

I am with you. Those are not only the redundancies but sources of trouble.
