And the reason for the third floor being vacated is even more clear now!
Most likely they'll relocate to Jamesburg so they can be closer to their competitors. That's a HUGE building with a lot of empty space in it. That'll save them layoff packages too when they tell everyone on LI " Commute, Relocate or Resign" and 60% of Melville employees look for jobs elsewhere, and the few who do commute end up getting terminated due to repeat lateness with the 3 - 4 hour rush hour commute both ways.
Sad. This HQ location held and still holds a lot of promise for the Americas and was so much better than Lake Success. I wish CUSA and team the best but from these posts it looks grim.
Start looking for retirement homes in NJ, either near the Jamesburg office or near one of the other Print manufacturers - like KM, Ricoh, Sharp, or Kyocera - because that's where Canon is headed once they sell the Melville property.
How sad! It does seem to be a critical decision considering the low ## of employees who are actually working there now. All the layoffs and many resignations..
Make sure Sammy gets thrown in the dumpster on moving day.
HP should buy the building along with Canon's entire print business.
Could be a signal of a bigger move for Canon off Long Island/New York via a merger with another print manufacturer located in another state.
Like everyone said years ago they should have staying in Lake Success
What was once a building of Pride, integrity, and hard work, only to relocate and show weakness!
Move to DealerTrack location would be great! Attract more talent if closer to NYC.
“Canon officials could not be reached for comment.”
Typical. Poor communicators as always. Not transparent.
