Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Closing the 3rd Floor

Is it true we won’t even be able to use conference rooms or bathrooms on the third floor? Hearing we’re going to be working at tables in the cafeteria during the move? Insane!

They'd been talking about it for a while, as far back as 2021/22. Even before the layoffs there was bellyaching at the Exec level that less than half the building is being utilized. I think there was discussion about leasing the floor out to another company for a while, but now that they're in the initial stages of negotiating the sale of the building (not a rumor - it's happening), they probably need the floor completely empty so they can stage/demo it for Langone or another buyer. The sale will probably finalize by Q4.

Canon will likely be gone from Melville within the next 12 - 18 months which will tremendously impact a lot of people, especially if they move back to deep Nassau or NJ. That'll be fine for the execs though - it'll be "Relocate or quit. No severance!"

I honestly believe that everyone is sitting together will expose the many employees that have slipped through the cracks, do nothing but hang out and complain when in the office. God knows what they do on work from home days. Canon made some very poor decisions with the layoffs and whom they chose. I personally hope another round comes and eyes are wide open for those that are choosing.

I tend to look for the bathroom that might have hot water!
And my worth ethic! I do not sit there, and do nothing all day. There’s no time for that.

3rd floor bathrooms are where people go to cry and commiserate with themselves in the mirror. Got to keep these open for the Moaning Myrtles.
Just wait until Japan installs the pay toilets!

Why would you need to use the bathrooms on the third floor when we have bathrooms on the first and second floors? How many bathrooms do you need?? These comments are comical. Again, this is as bad as watching the useless TV show called The View. The number of people complaining about moves, the company, and promotions, lol. Let's discuss the work ethics of half the people who post on this site. I can guarantee that half of them sit in the hallway for hours doing absolutely nothing all day.
