Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Tired of both the publicity and also the lack thereof.

Every time the banking sector is talked about on CNBC, Citi is never mentioned UNLESS its something negative. In general they mention JPM, Wells Fargo, BoA but no Citi. The only time I ever hear Citi mentioned is when its something bad and even then its a two fold negative. Its either a bad financial forecasting call and all the ways we missed the mark while other banks did not and were wrong on our assessment yet once again and\or we are laying off.

The other banks are mentioned oh so fondly. BoA was wrong here here and here but got it right here and here and the reason they were wrong is because of ‘x’ and its understandable etc… When it comes to Citi….Citi got it wrong, period. No special allowances or reasonings just “got it wrong”.

It’s…..getting…..old…..

CNBC is just a vessel for companies to pay for good news coverage in some shape or form, including dogging on competitors.

Yes, most major banks do also get bad publicity, this is true.
When listing the good stuff though most major banks are mentioned BUT Citi is not in the list. Frustrating.

You don't pay attention to enough different news sources. Most of the major banks get bad publicity. Wells is always in the news for sketchy practices and there's all kinds of bad press abut JPM and what a DB Dimon is with his approach and RTO. I would say however that Citi is especially good at sc--wing up on a regular basis.
