Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

NO one to blame but yourself

If you invested 10+ years at Dell you effed yourself.

You seem rather angry for someone who's wining so much in life with that dell director title of yours.

“ As for your useless comment you must appreciate the irony coming from a supposed dell Director title.”

From a sad little pr--k who never got it. Never had his “greatness” recognized by the horrible Dell machine. Sorry for you, buddy. Best you keep blaming everyone else for the fact that you’re a loser.

" I am a Director now ... Sorry we canned you for being useless."

You know outside of Dell you will be down-leveled a few notches to manager at best, right?

As for your useless comment you must appreciate the irony coming from a supposed dell Director title.

My whole life is dedicated to Dell. I regularly work 80 hour weeks as I have no life outside Dell. How many of you are willing to go that extra mile for Michael? If you are not committed to the cause then you are a loser. Get out.

10 years and 2 months. Started as an S6 AE. I am a Director now, making north of $400k a year OTE. Every year the RSUs arrive. Love the place.

Sorry we canned you for being useless.

Visiting here is like viewing a traffic accident and thinking "glad I am not part of that."
But believe what you want. I am sure you would like ex-dell success to be false to curb the pangs from the career choices you've made.

I certainly don't need any validation from the dell lifers.

“ I left 5 years ago and joined a FAANG.”

Not sure I believe you if you are following Dell layoffs. Or do you need to have others in awe of your need for external validation?

"From management to director, and now VP. "

I left 5 years ago and joined a FAANG. My stock worth is north of 5m.
Some of my coworkers in their late 30s have net worth over 10m. Many have achieved FIRE already.

We all are highly marketable and have a lot of upward mobility as a skilled ICs.

All outside of a management track. So your "story" is not that inspirational but go ahead and pat yourself on the back.

I’ve been with Dell for 25 years in the same role, and that’s been by choice. I never had the desire to move into management or outside sales because this position gave me the flexibility to prioritize my family and maintain a strong work-life balance. I plan to honor Dell’s expectations of returning to the office five days a week and retire here when the time comes.

A job is simply a means to an end, it doesn’t define who you are. Many people have been here for over 10 years and are genuinely happy. I think the real question is: what are your ambitions beyond Dell?

Looser or loser? I know, let’s have a spelling contest.

From management to director, and now VP. I’ve spent the better part of 25 years building a career at Dell. Along the way, I’ve built a strong financial foundation, a $10 million portfolio, a beautiful home, and a few vacation retreats. Success is measured in many ways, but I’d say I’ve done quite well.

This is the d-mbest post on the site. There’s already a thread on this topic, but I guess you had to post it again because you didn’t get the reaction you were hoping for? What a tool.

OP, I hear you! It’s a tough situation, and age bias in the job market is a real challenge. That said, experience and industry knowledge still hold a lot of value, especially in the right environment. If Dell isn’t where you want to spend your final working years, it might be worth exploring options that appreciate your expertise rather than dismissing it. There are companies out there that value seasoned professionals and sometimes it’s just about finding the right fit.
