Does anyone know if any coders have been laid off yet. I am talking the coders that assign CPT and ICD codes based on doctor’s notes.

36 coders were let go from vox hopital in springfield mo today…
750 being trained are most likely offshore
Heard it through the grapevine that HCC coding is hiring 750 coders and roughly 30 coding supervisors. While many others are let go. Why not train and move those over? COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANY EMPLOYEES
First, they started saving money by offshoring the coding. Now, they're trying to automate coding, using AI, so they can save even more money.
They are moving towards contractors. Contractors can be utilized and let go as need be and the company does not have to deal with the HR nightmares.
I know of one that was given an RIF (reduction in force or something like that) during the last round of layoffs in Feb. She was told 2 weeks would be her last day but then somehow they found a way to keep her. However since the cyberattack and all the bad press i have seen us lose clients and not many new ones coming on board. If they do, they're sent offshore for coding. I've been looking elsewhere, I don't get a good feeling about their coding operation lasting.
