Amazon knows that semiskilled laborers should all be contract workers, and I'm pretty sure that Lip-Bu gets that perfectly well and will bring that to the fabs as soon as possible.
See, IFS is profitable!
Does Amazon layoff focus on project managers?
I hope WFH was worth it for you slackers...
The article calls for managers to: 1. Increase direct reports, 2. Limit senior hires, 3. Review pay structures. The first one will reduce the number of managers and make managers actually manage people. The second one means it will engage in age discrimination to keep wages lower. The third one will work to keep wages lowers. If this becomes the business trend it will be bad for all workers. It looks the job market has shifted back to an being employers market and they are going to get even for the perks of the employees market created by the pandemic.
With the economy having been poisoned, this will all be a mere drop in the bucket of what's to come. Prepare for the tsunami.
Is it because managers are generally useless??
