Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Turning the sc--w

We have know all along that the entire RTO thing is about causing attrition to avoid paying severance

Let’s review:

Phase 1: getting people back to the office. The eased it in with promises of 3 day hybrid, then changed it to 5 and widened the radius from the office to whom
It applies. If not enough people quit then proceed to phase 2

Phase 2: is getting remotes to come into the office. This could require relocation or simply commute regardless of how far away that requires. Failure to comply will result in termination. No severance here.

“ TDS is a real thing.
They ironically create more right leaning voters than fox news.
And subject themselves to public mocking at the same time”

Trump broke a lot of people. Granted, many of them were mentally unstable to begin with, but he certainly pushed them over the edge.

why does this have anything to do with the Trump administration? Nice how you worked that in with no context whatsoever.

People. Let's get very, very real here. Execs at Dell have basically told us they don't want us. They have shown it to us over and over for 4 years or so. They have shrunk severance from 2 months (the legally required part because they don't announce big layoffs publicly) plus 1 week per year, to a max of 18 weeks, then a max of 12-13 weeks. So if you have worked here 20+ years, you would be now losing out on 8 or more weeks of severance compared to what was your right as of last year. Their peers at Microsoft have already laid people off with zero severance. How long do you think before Dell follows suit and says fu-k severance? How long before they simply decide they can get away with anything under the Trump administration?

Continuing to complain on this site is beneath us. All of us. If we have any self respect, we're looking for other jobs and trying whatever it takes to leave this sinking ship.

Interesting. What if remote will comply and relocate, given current job market? The whole strategy will fail. Time is also critical here, since it is less expensive to layoff people now than to keep them on payroll for a long time until they quit. If this is indeed the plan, we will see something very soon.
